Polishing, Buffing & Paint Correction

Polishing vs Paint Correction
-

Polishing
Polishing is the 1st stage in the paint correction process, and is also the least aggressive when compared to a stage 2 or stage 3 paint correction. If your vehicle’s paint has minor swirl marks, scratches & other imperfections on a minor level, this is what you want, to get your vehicle ultra-shiny!
-

Stage 2 Correction
As shown in the picture above, if your vehicle’s paint has become moderately faded, contains lots of swirl marks, or has prominent blemishes, a Stage 2 paint correction is what you’ll need. It involves using more aggressive polishing/buffing pads that more easily cut into the clear coat layer of your vehicle’s paint, thus removing the imperfections that may lie there.
-

Stage 3 Correction
As it is a standard practice to first utilize a stage 1 & stage 2 paint correction, in more severe cases, using sandpaper, or wet-sanding is necessary in removing the imperfections that lie deep into the clear coat layer of your vehicle’s paint. A stage 3 paint correction process is used for heavy fading, heavy swirl marks & damaged clear coat.
Repainting vs Paint Correction
-

Deep Scratches
As opposed to swirl marks and light surface scratches, a deep scratch almost always requires either a touch up service, or a full repainting of the panel that the deep scratch is located on. The rule: If you run your thumbnail across a scratch, in which your nail catches the scratch, you will definitely need a touch up or paint repair service.
-

Touch Up Repair
In comparison to a full paint repair, touch up paint is applied to the scratch, in which the touch up paint is thick enough to fill in the scratch, thus a great option if your goal is to simply hide, or mask the obviousness of the damage. Another advantage of touch up paint is that it is much cheaper than a full paint repair.
-

Full Paint Repair
A full paint repair entails completely repainting a panel on your vehicle that contains deep scratches or major paint damage. The results of a full paint repair yield a brand-new and ultra shiny panel, in which the paint will blend perfectly with the surrounding paint on the affected panel & adjacent panels. It is a much longer, and more meticulous/technical process, but ultimately restores the value of your vehicle when going to sell it, or trade it in. We offer full repainting for insanely low prices.
Damaged Clear Coat
If your vehicle’s paint finish looks something like this, notice that you can still see the color of the base coat (black or gray). This is because the clear coat layer has been severely damaged, and can only be repaired by spraying a new layer, or layers of clear coat.
